LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Nevada Lawmakers have decided to resurrect Assembly Bill 381.
AB381 is aimed at tackling animal cruelty in Nevada.
On Friday bill sponsor Melissa Hardy confirmed with FOX5 that the bill did not receive a work session by the legislative deadline set for April 11.
Any bills that did not make it out of committee by Friday in the Nevada legislature were essentially “dead.”
During a work session on Monday Assemblymember Brittney Miller announced a waiver that was granted to “resurrect” the bill.
“Just because a bill doesn’t make it pass passage doesn’t mean that the issue or the cause wont in this case we were able to actually get a waiver granted so that this particular bill in its original entirety was able to be resurrected,” said Assemblymember Brittney Miller.
We’re moving forward w/ AB381, Reba’s Law. I’m working on amendments now that address all the concerns that were raised while still holding abusers accountable as we fight for Justice to end Animal Cruelty! Assembly Judiciary is passing a more robust version of Reba’s Law today! https://t.co/sYtOcMes1o

The Judiciary committee just passed AB381, Reba’s law!
We had been working on amendments to address the concerns raised, so we can pass a more robust, comprehensive version of Reba’s law. I am happy this bill is moving forward, and look forward to voting for it on the floor! https://t.co/942YEFSbms— Assemblywoman Elaine Marzola (@elainemarzola) April 14, 2025
