LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV men’s soccer senior Gabe Sanchez and sophomore Kai Merrill were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, the organization announced Friday.

Sanchez, who held a 3.73 GPA in his undergraduate coursework, is working toward a graduate certificate in business administration. During his final season, he collected a career-high seven points and matched his career high with three goals to go along with one assist in 17 matches.

A kinesiology major, Merrill has compiled a 3.89 GPA. In his second year, Merrill also recorded a career-high in points with six after he scored two goals and added two assists in 17 contests.

The 2024 Academic All-District Teams, selected by CSC, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom across four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

To be eligible for the honor, a student-athlete must be a sophomore academically and athletically, have at least a 3.5 GPA and compete in 90 percent of the institution’s contests or start in at least 66 percent of those.
