LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – UNLV star wide receiver and special teams standout Ricky White III has formally been invited to play in the East-West Shrine Bowl.
White currently leads the Rebels with 51 receptions for 671 yards and nine touchdowns. He also leads all of college football with a school record of three blocked punts.
In only his third season at UNLV after transferring from Michigan State, White stands fourth in school history in three major categories with 190 catches for 2,773 yards and 21 receiving touchdowns. He also needs three more 100-yard games to pass Rebel record-holder Devonte Boyd’s 14 career century mark outings from 2014-17.
The team captain recently earned Second Team Midseason All-American from Sports Illustrated as an all-purpose special teams performer and on offense was Honorable Mention Midseason All-America according to College Football Network.
The 100th edition of the East-West Shrine Bowl will take place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Jan. 30, 2025. White is just the second Rebel invited to play in the event since 2017, joining linebacker Austin Ajiake who appeared in the 2022 edition held at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
The Rebels next play Saturday at Hawai’i starting at 6 p.m. PT on CBS Sports Network. The next UNLV home game is Nov. 16 vs. San Diego State at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale by calling (702) 739-FANS or visiting unlvtickets.com.
