LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Led by two players in the individual top 10, the Rebels sit in second in the team standings after Monday’s opening two rounds of the San Diego State Classic at The Heights Golf Club (Par 72, 6,376 yards).

The Rebels’ senior duo guided their scorecard through 36 holes, with Toa Yokoyama in a tie for fourth at 6-under and her counterpart Mayumi Umezu in a tie for seventh at 4-under. Together, they combined for 21 of the squad’s 27 birdies.

As.a team, the Scarlet & Gray posted a 3-under 573 as one of only two teams to shoot below par in the event’s first two rounds. UNLV finds itself six shots ahead of the next closest competitor in Georgia at 3-over.

Holding the day-one team lead, No. 1 Stanford threw together a 28-under 548. Taking the individual lead into day two is the Cardinal’s Meja Ortengren at 10-under.

Behind the Rebel lineup’s top duo are senior Hina Matsui (+2) in a tie for 17th, senior McKenzi Hall (+6) in a tie for 32nd and sophomore Zi Yu Foong (+11) in a tie for 46th.

UP NEXT: The tournament concludes with Tuesday’s final round set to begin with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
