RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – A Reno man was sentenced to 10 years in prison for assaulting a federal officer.
39-year-old Matthew John Nason will serve three years of parole after he was found guilty of assaulting the officer with a deadly or dangerous weapon during the execution of his first arrest warrant.
The DOJ says that on Feb. 16, 2022, Nason fired a handgun in the direction of a U.S. Marshal as they were trying to serve him and his girlfriend a warrant.
Nason had an outstanding arrest warrant for drug and firearms violations out of North Dakota. His 10-year sentence will run consecutive to the sentence her received in North Dakota.
