LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A Las Vegas man faces two counts of attempted murder and assault after swinging a large machete toward a couple, police say.
FOX5 obtained an arrest report for Jose Manuel Manduley Deagustini. The incident happened the afternoon of Oct. 17 near Sahara Avenue and Paradise Road.
A couple was at a gas station to purchase drinks, but would later get into an argument.
A woman walked away from the fight and walked into an alleyway. According to the arrest report, Deagustini was parked in the alleyway with a Chevrolet Equinox.
Deagustini was seen catcalling the woman in the alleyway, according to witnesses and surveillance video. When the woman wasn’t responding, he started to get aggressive.
The couple tried to get away from him. Police say he started to throw rocks and used his car to block the exit out of the alleyway.
Deagustini exited his car wielding a large machete and started swinging it at the couple. The woman was cut multiple times.
The two were able to escape, get medical supplies and report the crime. A witness also called 911 and reported the incident.
Las Vegas police officers were able to positively identify the suspect through a photo lineup, DNA and vehicle registration.
According to the report, this isn’t the first incident for Deagustini. He previously chased people with a machete in Las Vegas on June 7 this year.
