LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Las Vegas police say they arrested a suspect of a deadly shooting at a birthday party after a pursuit.

Police say the shooting happened Sunday night in the 4700 block of Corsaire Avenue, near Craig and Lamb.

Metro received a call saying their brother was shot. When officers arrived, they found Luis Garcia-Molina, 17, with gunshot wounds.

Medical arrived and said he died at the scene. Witnesses of the shooting told police the shooter had a nickname. Police investigation revealed the suspect as 18-year-old Damian Delgado.

Witnesses say he, along with friends, fled in a pickup truck.

Later that night, police found the suspect vehicle near Page and Stewart Streets. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to stop.

A pursuit was initiated, according to the arrest report.

The vehicle stopped at Foxhall Road and Lomprey Avenue. Six men were taken into custody, one of them was Delgado.

Police found a firearm in their possession. Detectives believe they were trying to disassemble it.

Police retraced the pickup truck’s path as the occupants were throwing stuff out while fleeing. Police would recover another firearm and a phone.

Police started to interview people at the scene. One person told police he returned home to start setting up for a birthday party. Several people in a white truck arrived to drop off a BBQ grill.

During the party, Delgado and his group started to get aggressive. The person told police they all pulled out guns and started shooting at Garcia-Molina.

Police interviewed the driver of the suspect vehicle the next day. He said he helped bring the BBQ grill. He told police he didn’t have any knowledge about “street politics” or issues between his friends and people in the neighborhood.

During the police pursuit, he said he called his brother and mom. They two told him to stop the vehicle.

Delgado has a status check in North Las Vegas Court on Feb. 25.
