LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A shooting suspect that left a Las Vegas security guard in critical condition was previously arrested in 2016 for attempted murder.

Police said they responded to a market located near Decatur and Washington after reports of a man shot in a parking lot Saturday, July 20. When officers arrived, they discovered that a security guard was shot during a robbery.

Police said the guard sustained a gunshot wound to the head that was lodged in the neck and chin area.

Police gathered witness statements. An employee of the store told police that a Hispanic man entered the store, grabbed products and left without paying. They informed the guard about the theft.

In the arrest report, it details the guard confronting the man. The two would get into an argument.

Police said a second man, later identified as Miguel Narro from Las Vegas, exited the suspect vehicle and pointed a firearm at the guard. In an attempt to defend himself, police said the guard used pepper spray but was still shot.

The suspects then fled southbound from the scene.

Officers said the suspect vehicle was a Nissan and found it’s residence through the license plate. When officers did a follow-up where the car is registered, police spoke to Narro’s parents who claimed he was the last one to drive the vehicle.

The next day, officers conducted a home compliance check in North Las Vegas. This is conducted when a house arrest offender is released on the program.

Police said they noticed two people at the residence’s backyard. One was trying to flee over a fence.

One of the men identified themselves as Narro. Police discovered an active warrant for him and he was placed under arrest. While searching the residence, police said they found the suspect vehicle in the shooting and that it had dry pepper spray on it.

When officers interviewed Narro about his whereabouts during the time of the shooting, he said he was looking for his car. Narro claimed it was stolen but police knew that was false as they found his vehicle at his home. Police also found the products taken from the market, the report states.

Narro was transported to the Clark County Detention Center and booked. He faces attempted murder and robbery charges. While running a records check, officers discovered that he has criminal history dating back to 2016, including conspiracy to commit murder.
