LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Nevada is still seeing a decrease in gaming revenue, though numbers from August suggest less of a blow to the industry than previous months.
Nonrestricted gaming licensees across the state saw a total “gaming win,” or the amount of revenue earned by casinos, of $1,163,739,235 in August. This marks a 3.80% decrease when compared to August 2023.
For the fiscal year, the state has seen an overall decrease of 5.47% in gaming revenue.
The Boulder Strip would see the biggest plunge in revenue last month with a 21.83% decrease in revenue. On the other end, Mesquite would see the biggest jump in revenue for Southern Nevada with a 10.2% increase.
Up north, Sparks saw an even bigger jump with an 11.34% increase in revenue, while Elko County saw an 8.42% decrease.
The state collected $57,672,613 in fees during September from the taxable revenue generated in August, a 23.93% decrease from last year.
