LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Your wedding day’s supposed to be among the happiest of your life — don’t let a bad actor rob you of your money and your precious memories.
The Better Business Bureau reports a spate of scams involving wedding photographers. They typically post ads on social media or bridal vendor sites.
Their profile, page, or website may look legitimate, but once you sign the digital contract and put down your deposit, they disappear. Sometimes, they even charge you for the price of the entire contract without even snapping off a single photo.
The BBB advises you to do your homework before booking with any wedding vendor to avoid letting a scammer ruin your big day. Read ratings and reviews in addition to visiting their social media pages or website.
Always ask for a phone call before the shoot — or better yet, an in-person meeting.
Check the contract carefully, again, before signing.
Also, steer clear of peer-to-peer payment apps, they can be a sign of a scam.
Finally, whenever possible, pay with a credit card to ensure you get maximum fraud protection.
