RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – A search is underway after a woman walked away from the Jean Conservation Camp.
The Nevada Department of Corrections says that on Saturday, a minimum-security offender walked away from the camp, located around 20 miles south of Las Vegas.
NDOC says Joan Wenger was determined to be missing during the 3:00 a.m. count Saturday.
Wenger was admitted to NDOC on Dec. 1, 2021, from Douglas County. The 69-year-old was serving a 120-month sentence for vehicular homicide.
She is described as being five foot one, 135 pounds with green eyes and gray hair.
A retake warrant has been issued and anyone with information as to her whereabouts is asked to call 911.
