LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The search for a missing Las Vegas pilot was put on pause Monday because of incoming high winds, police say.

On Jan. 2, Michael Martin took off in his plane from the North Las Vegas airport. His plane later vanished and stopped transmitting a location around Indian Springs.

The Nye County Sheriff says crews searched the area of Round Mountain and Gold Field Saturday with K9 teams. Monday, private pilots are assisting with a search near Tonopah.

Law enforcement data continues to emphasize that Round Mountain remains the focus of the search.

However, the aerial search was suspended again after also being cut short on Sunday. Authorities tell FOX5 it may be safe enough to resume the air search on Wednesday.

Nye County Sheriff Joe McGill continues to urge the public to avoid Round Mountain to help the search. He says they “don’t want to rescue anyone else” from the cold and snowy conditions.
