LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A 20-year-old security guard is facing multiple charges, including battery with a deadly weapon, after shooting a tourist on the Las Vegas Strip in late August, according to police documents.
DeAngelo Sneed shot the victim on Aug. 30 outside the Grand Bazaar Shops near Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo Road, according to police reports. The incident involved a group of visitors from Chicago and began as a domestic dispute.
The police report said one woman got into an argument with her boyfriend when Sneed intervened, thinking the man was harassing the woman. The victim told the guard he was with the woman, but the two continued fighting.
According to the arrest report, the victim told police Sneed made a threatening gesture and statement, saying, “I got this button for you.” Button is a street term for an automatic weapon, police said.
The fight continued, and the victim’s group stepped in to help. Sneed claimed that’s when he fired his weapon, striking the tourist.
Two other security guards who responded to the scene told investigators they never felt Sneed’s life was in any danger during the altercation.
The case remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
