LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A maintenance crew will repaint six of the brightly colored boulders at Seven Magic Mountains starting Monday, April 6.

The work at the popular roadside art installation south of Las Vegas is expected to wrap up by Friday, April 24.

The site will stay open during the project, but visitors are asked to watch for painting crews, respect barriers around work areas and keep a safe distance.

Seven Magic Mountains is a large-scale public artwork by Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone. It features seven towers of stacked, colorful boulders — each more than 30 feet tall — sitting in the Mojave Desert near Jean Dry Lake and Interstate 15, about 10 miles south of Henderson on BLM land.

The project is produced and managed by the Nevada Museum of Art and Art Production Fund. It first opened in May 2016.

Seven Magic Mountains is open daily from sunrise to sunset, and admission is free.
