LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – As the Sphere in Las Vegas continues to grow in popularity and virality, the visionary behind the building is eyeing expansion.
During an investors earnings call Monday, Sphere Entertainment Company CEO James Dolan said they are toying with the idea for “smaller” Spheres to expand into other markets.
“We’re currently working on the architecture for a smaller Sphere, which we think will be deployable to more markets somewhere in the 5,000-seat range,” Dolan said on the call.
The company is also planning to create a Sphere, similar to the Las Vegas one, in Abu Dhabi. Executives said they are looking to learn lessons from the construction of the Las Vegas venue when building Abu Dhabi.
Dolan also teased a new immersive show that could be coming to the venue.
“I don’t want to let the cat out of the bag,” Dolan said when asked about the new show. “The new experience, which we will not name, will take advantage of the different features that we built inside the Sphere, more so than anything we’ve done in the past.”
Dolan said they plan on officially announcing the new experience later this month.
This comes after Sphere recently announced the name of its famous Exosphere “emoji” and a new residency with the Backstreet Boys.
