LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The Southern Nevada Health District is investigating several cases of Legionnaires’ disease.
SNHD reports at least three people who stayed at at Harrah’s Laughlin in May were hospitalized. Of the three infected, two have since recovered.
Samples taken from the facility tested positive for Legionella. According to the release, Harrah’s Laughlin disinfected their water system.
Officials says recent samples came back clean. Harrah’s Laughlin says they will continue testing their water system to ensure safety across their property.
“The facility is cooperating with the Health District’s investigation, has initiated guest notifications regarding the potential exposure, and is implementing precautionary measures to mitigate any further risk of illness,” officials said.
Health officials say Legionnaires’ disease symptoms usually begin within 10 days following exposure. Those symptoms include cough, shortness of breath, fever, muscle aches and headaches. These symptoms could last for up to two weeks after exposure.
Those who stayed at Harrah’s Laughlin on or after May 1 are recommended to submit an illness survey on the Southern Nevada Health District website.
