LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Reckless driving is a big problem in the Southeast Valley at the intersection of Lamb Boulevard and Hacienda Avenue. But an even bigger problem is property damage.
One homeowner tells FOX5 repairs aren’t getting done.
“The residents around here are pretty tired of it. We’ve got three walls that have been gone through already.” That’s according to a neighbor who did not wish to go on camera or provide his name.
He explains what happens when drivers make their mark off the road. “The corner of my property was replaced about last year sometime from somebody hitting it. That wall across the street was replaced last year from somebody going through it for speeding. I’m still fighting with the insurance about this wall right here.”
He says that’s exactly what happened last time, and he had to have his homeowner’s insurance pay for it, and ended up getting dinged even though it wasn’t his fault.
So, what can homeowners can do if a vehicle damages their property?
You can report a residential complaint to the county. That phone number is: (702) 455-4191 and the email is: [email protected].
You can also fill out a Damage Assessment Form with the Clark County Building Department.
A representative from the Public Response Office – Code Enforcement says you have to go through whole routine of filing a police report, then having insurance step in and repair the wall eventually.
The homeowner knows it won’t be another quick fix. He just wants the county to step in to handle the issues.
“Be nice if we could get some help over here in the neighborhood.”
The illegal street racing could come to a screeching halt.
Leaders with the Public Works department recently discussed pavement milling as an option which would ruin your tires if you tried to do any donuts or burnouts.
Compared to speed bumps and rumble strips, Commissioner Jim Gibson said at a community meeting Wednesday night pavement milling is something the county can do more quickly than any other option.
It is being looked at as a solution in the area of Lamb and Hacienda moving forward.
