LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Las Vegas police said the suspected driver in a critical hit-and-run crash smelled like alcohol and admitted to drinking.
FOX5 obtained an arrest report for 28-year-old Joscelyne Armedariz-Martinez of Las Vegas. The crash happened Sunday night at Charleston Boulevard and Broadalbin Drive.
Police said Armedariz-Martinez drove an Audi on east Charleston. A crash happened when a pedestrian crossing Charleston crossed the Audi’s path. She is accused of fleeing the scene.
The pedestrian was transported to Sunrise Hospital where they remain in critical condition.
According to an arrest report, police made a broadcast to search for the Audi that would have front-end damage. One officer near the area of Lamb and Stewart saw the Audi with a similar description and conducted a traffic stop.
However, police said Armedariz-Martinez failed to stop for the red and blue lights. The officer used his airhorn multiple times before the vehicle stopped near Stewart and Lamb.
When the officer made contact with the her, he noticed windshield and sidemirror damage. The arrest report noted that she had bloodshot, watery eyes and smelled like alcohol. She told the officer she came from a downtown bar and admitted to drinking.
Police would detain her and conduct a sobriety test, which she did not complete.
Armedariz-Martinez also admitted to being in an accident, according to the arrest report. One witness at the crash, Marcus Smith, identified her as the driver who hit his daughter.
She is accused of DUI and failure to stop at the scene of an accident. In her conversation with police, she said she realized her mistake and tried to turn around back to the accident before the officer stopped her.
