LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Henderson police are investigating an attempted robbery that turned deadly early Saturday morning.
According to the Henderson Police Department, officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 1000 block of Wellness Place at 3:57 a.m.
An initial investigation determined that a 33-year-old man was approached by an unknown male with a firearm in his hand, who demanded his cell phone and wallet. The 33-year-old then fired his own gun multiple times at the unknown male and struck him.
Police add that the 33-year-old fired out of “fear for his life.”
Arriving first responders would later confirm that the man died at the scene. There were no other injuries reported, police said.
The 33-year-old man remained at the scene and cooperated with the detectives.
An investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
“This is being investigated as the sixth homicide for the City of Henderson for 2024,” HPD stated in a release.
