PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A suspect has been rushed to a hospital after a shooting involving police officers in south Phoenix on Thursday morning.
It happened just after 8 a.m. in a neighborhood near 6th Street and Sunland Avenue, north of Southern Avenue. It’s unclear what led up to the shooting, but Phoenix Police say no officers were hurt.
Arizona’s Family is working to gather additional information.
The latest incident comes a day after Police Chief Matt Giordano released a statement emphasizing de-escalation in the wake of six shootings involving Phoenix police officers over a six-week period. He says the department is launching a refresher course on its ICAT (Integrating Communications, Assessment, and Tactics) training and its use-of-force policies.
This is the 32nd officer-involved shooting in Maricopa County this year and the 65th statewide.
