LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The Clark County School District’s zoning advisory board is looking at ways to ease overcrowding at Las Vegas Valley schools.

The board heard one proposal for Desert Pines High School that could be under consideration.

The high school has 42 portables that it is using as classrooms.

“Desert Pines, when we get to the scenario that talks about converting Robinson Middle School into a high school, that’s one of the ways enrollment relief will come provided for Desert Pines,” said Tracy Murphy, director of demographics and zoning for CCSD.

Other schools that need relief with large numbers of portables include Arbor View and Centennial high schools that have 24 and 35 portable classrooms, respectively.

Rezoning is another scenario that is under consideration as new housing developments are completed.
