LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A substitute teacher accused of getting into a fight with a student was allowed to be released from custody Friday.

Re’Kwon Smith, 27, appeared in court Friday afternoon after his arrest Thursday. The fight was at Valley High School.

Smith is accused of punching a student repeatedly, knocking him to the ground. The video obtained by FOX5 shows the substitute teacher throwing five punches, knocking the student to the ground. The student was seen clutching his face. Eventually, the student gets up and shouts at the teacher, “you’re going to jail.”

FOX5 has requested an arrest report for Smith.

Smith was released from custody but ordered to stay away from the school and victims, Judge Daniel Westmeyer said.

His next court hearing was set for May 28.
