LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A 34-person team of firefighters from several Southern Nevada department is headed north to assist with the Davis fire.

The Davis Fire is only 31% contained, and is burning at 5,646 acres in size. According to a Clark County spokesperson, the team will leave at 8 a.m.

“Some personnel may be assigned to the task force fighting to protect threatened structures, while others will be assigned to local fire stations in the region to run calls and supplement personnel deployed to the Davis Fire,” the spokesperson stated in a release.

Overall, the Clark County Fire Department is sending four engines and a total of 18 personnel, including a mechanic and a battalion chief. Las Vegas Fire and Rescue, Henderson Fire Department, and North Las Vegas Fire Departments are also sending personnel.

The wind is expected to pick up on Wednesday, and could potentially increase the fire’s ability to spread. All classes in the district will be canceled, and evacuation orders are expanded.
