LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A 16-year-old has critical injuries after a crash in southeast Las Vegas Tuesday evening, police said.

Officials with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said the crash happened just after 5 p.m. at Tropicana Avenue and Pecos Road. Police said it involved the teenager and the driver of a Hyundai Sonata.

Police said the driver traveled westbound on East Tropicana approaching Pecos with a green light. A crash happened when the driver passed the intersection, and, at the same time, police say the teen darted southbound into the driver’s path.

Police said the Hyundai came to a controlled stop. Medical arrived and transported the teen to Sunrise Hospital’s Trauma Unit, where she remains with critical injuries.

Police said the driver reported no injuries and was not impaired. The investigation is ongoing.

Police initially reported the crash as a hit-and-run, as officers say people at the scene reported a second car that hit the victim and fled. Police later concluded that no evidence supported that.
