LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Teen fighting for his life after central valley scooter crash, Metro police report

According to Las Vegas Metro Police Department, the collision occurred on Friday around 4:20 p.m. near east Sierra Vista Drive, west of South Maryland Parkway.

A 16-year-old male was riding a scooter traveling north approaching Sierra Vista, west of Maryland Parkway, when the collision occurred.

Witness statements say as the rider approached the roadway it seemed he attempted to perform a trick, which led him to fall in the path of the car.

The driver of a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe attempted to make a left when the rider fell. Officials report the driver was unable to avoid the pedestrian. The driver ran over the teen.

The juvenile was taken to the Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center’s Trauma Unit with life-threatening injuries.

Police say impairment is not suspected to be a factor.

The incident remains under investigation.
