LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The teens accused of killing a man in a Pahrump park over the Fourth of July weekend entered their first plea related to the shooting.
Anthony Aguilar, 18, and Carlos Blakely, 18, appeared in court together Thursday. Both entered not guilty pleas to charges related to the shooting death of Joe Perry, 22, who was killed during a “Movies in the Park” event July 5 at Ian Deutch Memorial Park in Pahrump.
Aguilar and Blakely each face one count of conspiracy to commit murder and one count of open murder.
Aguilar surrendered to law enforcement in Nye County on July 8, while Blakely surrendered to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police officials a day earlier. Two other individuals were wanted for questioning but were later released.
During the appearance, attorney Josh Tomsheck and Justice of the Peace Kirk Vitto scheduled a preliminary hearing for both Aguilar and Blakely. The hearing is set for Sept. 23 at 9 a.m. In the meantime, both are being held without bail in the Nye County Jail.
