LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Las Vegas was not excluded from the thousands of demonstrations held nationwide over the weekend.

This was the second round of protests referred to as the “No Kings” demonstrations, the first held back in June, uniting people in their opposition to President Donald Trump.

There were several protests planned across the state of Nevada on Saturday, including Pahrump, Reno, Carson City, Mesquite, and multiple around the Las Vegas area.

FOX5 attended multiple demonstrations Saturday, the first in Henderson, where hundreds of people gathered at Coronado Center Drive and south Eastern Avenue to speak out against the President.

“I am here as an American citizen that loves this country, and we have a right to protest. We have a right to voice our opinions, and we have a right to call out Speaker Johnson, President Trump, his administration, and what they’re doing to our country,” Jeanette Davidson said.

“I love this country. I care about our democracy, but if you support Donald Trump, you don’t care about our Constitution,” Brian Shapiro said.

Almost everyone had signs in hand, all with their own messages about where they believe President Trump has failed during his second term.

“This voice will only continue to grow as long as they treat us substandardly, as long as they fail to recognize that they govern for this whole country, not just for the people that they have empowered,” Davidson said.

The largest congregation ended up in Downtown Las Vegas, where roughly 2,000 demonstrators came together, according to Metro Police.

A similar message echoed there, displeasure with the Trump Administration, and content to see how many people exercised their right to protest.

“I hate to see what’s happening to our Latino community and things like that with ICE. The other programs that they’re cutting. They just defunded special education on a national level. Military being sent to cities is just ridiculous,” Trilby and Kelly Christopher said.

“It’s my first time out. It won’t be the last,” Hank Youngerman said.

“As these demonstrations get bigger and bigger, I think they’re going to retain exactly the same joyous and nonviolent quality that they have. Eventually, there will be enough of us that Republicans in Congress will be scared.”

The final local protest of the day brought people to the Las Vegas Strip outside New York New York.

Metro recorded about 700 people at that rally, including some people from out of town who decided to join.

Like Barbara Service and her husband Terry, who were visiting from Kansas City, Missouri, and are active in demonstrations back home.

“The most important thing for people to understand is this is not a single, individual thing. This is a joint. This is Democrats, Republicans, Independents, all people standing together understanding that our Democracy is being questioned,” Barbara Service said.

“99% of Americans should understand it’s about us sticking together.”

FOX5 also ran into Roxana Santana, who shared a different perspective.

Santana was visiting Las Vegas from San Antonio and expressed her support of President Trump and the belief that protesting won’t lead to any progress.

“My perspective is that I don’t really see the point (of protesting) because nothing is going to happen,” Santana said.

“If they say that he is racist then what are they? If they are saying that to our president, we need to be respectful. We need to understand that it’s four years and that we need to go with what it is. I don’t see a point in insulting our president when we need to respect our president.”

According to Metro Police, throughout all of the demonstrations in Las Vegas, only one person was arrested for disorderly conduct.
