LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Some scams literally hide in plain sight. In fact, you can recognize them simply by looking for three very cordial keywords.
The phrase “would you kindly” should serve as a red flag, despite its polite tone. Experts say if you get an email or text claiming to be from your bank, a U.S. retailer, or a branch of government, it’s almost always a scam.
Tech analysts say the phrase is common in parts of the world where English is not the native tongue. It suggests the presence of an overseas impersonator trying to get to your money, your personal information, or both.
No matter how pleasant the request, never respond to this type of message by supplying any sensitive data. And if you do get a scam email, be sure to report with the Federal Trade Commission, or to the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center.
