Three Square launches emergency food response amidst government shutdown

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — As the government shutdown continues to impact families across Southern Nevada, many are facing food insecurity for the first time, according to officials at the food bank.

In response to this escalating crisis, Three Square Food Bank has announced it will expand its emergency relief efforts to ensure that no resident goes hungry.

Three Square’s Relief Efforts:

  • Emergency Community Donation Site: Three Square has opened its Agency Market as a temporary emergency community donation site.
  • Expanded Drive-Thru Distributions: The food bank is partnering with various community organizations to establish additional drive-thru Emergency Food Relief Distribution locations.
  • Increased Food Supplies: Three Square is increasing the food supply provided to partners, enabling them to serve a greater number of families in need.

“Uncertain times can push more households into food insecurity, many for the first time,” said Beth Martino, President & CEO of Three Square Food Bank. “Thankfully, Southern Nevadans take care of one another, and no matter what, Three Square will be here for our neighbors, doing all we can to create a hunger-free community.”

How You Can Help:

Southern Nevadans are urged to support their neighbors through various means:

  • Donate Food: Non-perishable food items can be dropped off at Three Square’s Agency Market, located at 4190 N. Pecos Road, Las Vegas, NV 89115. Donations are accepted Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 4:30 PM. Requested items include canned proteins, canned fruits and vegetables, peanut butter, rice, pasta, beans, and ready-to-eat meals.
  • Donate Time: Community members are encouraged to sign up and volunteer, as a collective effort is crucial to feeding the community.
