LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A pair of Las Vegas Teamsters Unions with memberships in the thousands have voted to merge.
According to a media release, Teamsters local 14 members voted overwhelmingly in favor of merging with Teamsters Local 986. Teamsters Local 14 represents over 5,000 workers in a diverse range of industries, including both public and private workers.
Teamsters Local 986 is the largest local union in the western United States with over 18,000 members. After merging, Teamsters 986 will grow to represent over 10,000 workers in the Las Vegas Valley.
“Our members have gained significant bargaining and political power through this merger, and we are excited to begin working on merging the two locals,” the union said.
