LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Two pedestrians were hit late Saturday night in the central valley, leaving one with life-threatening injuries, according to Metro police.

Officers say the crash happened just before 11 p.m. on Mel Torme Way at Spring Mountain Road. A Toyota Camry reportedly ran a red light and hit two pedestrians who were crossing against the pedestrian signal.

Police identified the pedestrians as 18-year-old Monika Gomez and 20-year-old Kayla Carillo. Both were taken to the hospital, while Gomez has life-threatening injuries.

The driver, 44-year-old Berekat Welday, stayed at the scene and showed signs of impairment. He was arrested for DUI and reckless driving charges.
