LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – New UNLV football head coach Dan Mullen announced that four members of the 2024 staff will remain in their roles with the program.

Wide receivers coach Del Alexander, defensive line coach Ricky Logo, cornerbacks coach Akeem Davis and Director of Football Player Development & Community Engagement Hunkie Cooper will all help make up Mullen’s first staff in Las Vegas.

Alexander, who served as UNLV’s interim head coach following the departure of Barry Odom to Purdue, led the Rebels to a 24-13 victory over Cal in the Art of Sport LA Bowl. He will now continue to oversee a position that produced All-American Ricky White III and helped the offense set a program record this fall with 35.4 points per game.

Logo will enter his third year with the program coming off a season that saw the Rebels lead the Mountain West in scoring defense at 21.3 points per game while posting the fourth-most quarterback sacks (42) in school history and most since 1984.

Davis was recently named a member of the prestigious AFCA’s 35 Under 35 Coaches Leadership Institute class for 2025. The former NFL player has seen his position group enjoy marked success over his two seasons in Las Vegas, including helping the Rebels boast a plus-14 turnover margin this year, which tied for eighth in the nation and is the lowest since 1985.

Cooper, a former star player at the school, was inducted into the UNLV Athletics Hall of Fame last summer. The longtime collegiate and high school coach served as the squad’s interim wide receivers coach through the 24th-ranked Rebels’ bowl game and will continue in his expansive administrative role.
