LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Six Lady Rebels scored in double-digits as the UNLV women’s basketball team defeated Point Loma, 94-63, in an exhibition game Tuesday night at the Cox Pavilion.

UNLV was led by Macie James and Amarachi Kimpson who each put up 14 points. Kiara Jackson collected 13 points and dished a team-high five assists, while Macy Spencer tallied 12 points. Meadow Roland recorded a double-double of 11 points and a team-lead 12 rebounds. Roland also had four assists on the night.

The Sea Lions were led by Kaylee Byon’s 13 points, while Kendyl Carson had 11 and Tavia Roawell had 10.

BIG EARLY RUN: After Point Loma put up the first three-pointer of the game, UNLV went on a 15-0 run to take a 17-3 lead half way through the first quarter. The Lady Rebels then went on in the second quarter to increase the lead by 19 at 42-23 with 3:58 left in the half. UNLV increased its advantage to 52-31 at the half. A seven-point scoring run in the fourth quarter gave the Lady Rebels a 37-point lead, 84-47, which was the biggest lead of the game.

STAT OF THE GAME: UNLV’s bench outscored Point Loma’s bench 50-24, and in points in the paint 40-16.

OTHER NOTES:

  • The Lady Rebels out-rebounded the Sea Lions, 44-28.
  • UNLV had nine steals compared to Point Loma’s two. 
  • The three-time defending Mountain West champion Lady Rebels have been predicted to win the league title in the preseason poll. 
  • This season marks the Lady Rebels 50th anniversary of women’s basketball at UNLV. 
  • Alyssa Brown, Kiara Jackson and Amarachi Kimpson were selected to the Preseason All-MW Team. 
  • Head coach Lindy La Rocque is on the 2025 Kathy Delaney-Smith Mid-Major Coach of the Year award preseason watch list for the second consecutive season. La Rocque was one of five finalists for the inaugural season for the award in 2024.
