LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Four different Lady Rebels scored in double-figures as UNLV collected an 88-54 victory over San Diego on Tuesday night at Cox Pavilion.

Kiara Jackson was the second leading scorer with 14 points and dished out a team-lead four assists. Amarachi Kimpson put up 13 points, while Aaliyah Alexander had 12 points, respectively.

The Toreros (2-1) were led by Ava Ranson who scored 13 points and Kylie Horstmeyer with 12 points.

STAT OF THE GAME: UNLV recorded 13 steals as a team and forced San Diego into 19 turnovers, which the Scarlet & Gray capitalized on and scored 28 points.

STRONG SECOND QUARTER: The Lady Rebels held a 25-20 lead going into the second quarter and continued the momentum scoring four free throws to go up by nine. The Toreros made a layup before Alexander scored back-to-back baskets to give the UNLV a 33-22 advantage. The Scarlet & Gray then went on a 12-2 to make it 45-25, and then scored another five straight points going into the half at 50-26.

“It’s always good to get another win, to get everyone in the game and our players to have success. We had some stretches during the game where we weren’t at our best defensively, but we figured out how to fix it. I think we still haven’t put together a full 40-minute game which is ok, but we have to continue to get closer to that as each game goes on. We saw a lot of good things out there tonight and I’m proud of us being able to get the win. Our team knows that we have multiple things we have to improve upon and we have to be a lot better come Friday.” said head coach Lindy La Rocque.
