LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The UNLV women’s basketball team fell 75-66 to Arizona in a non-conference contest on Tuesday night at McKale Memorial Center.
Amarachi Kimpson was the leading scorer for the Lady Rebels (2-1) with 14 points while Kiara Jackson put up 12 points and led the team in assists with five. Macie James and McKinna Brackens each collected nine points. Meadow Roland led the squad in rebounds with seven and also had eight points.
Arizona (4-0) was led by Lauryn Swann who had 19 points, while Jada Williams had 15. Skylar Jones dished five assists to lead the Wildcats.
STAT OF THE GAME: Although the Wildcats shot 53.2% (25 of 47) from the field, the Lady Rebels continued to dominate the paint and scored 34 points compared to Arizona’s 24 points.
OTHER NOTES:
- Alyssa Brown had a career-high six steals and blocked two shots in her visit back to her hometown.
- The Lady Rebels and Wildcats were tied in rebounds at 33.
- UNLV forced 21 Arizona turnovers and scored 20 points off them.
- The Lady Rebels had 13 steals compared to the Wildcats’ 10.
- There were six lead changes and four times the two squads were tied.
- Arizona’s bench out-scored UNLV’s bench 29-17.
