LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – UNLV men’s swimming’s Bryson Huey and McKay Mickelson saw their trip to the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials wrap up Thursday at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Originally from Walnut Creek, California, Huey won heat No. 8 and placed 23rd overall out of 82 swimmers in Thursday’s 50-meter free prelims with a personal best of 22.39 seconds.

The Rebel sprint specialist improved upon his 25th-ranked entry time (22.42) by three-hundredths of a second.

A Las Vegas product out of Legacy High School, Mickelson finished 48th overall out of 63 competitors in Wednesday’s 200-meter back prelims with a time of 2:02.22. Mickelson entered the meet as the 68th seed prior to any scratches with his meet qualifying time (2:01.49).

The duo recently led the Rebels to their fourth consecutive WAC title with a conference meet points record (972 points) this past spring.
