LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Powered by an outstanding performance from its women’s programs, the UNLV Athletics Department is the winner of the Silver State Series presented by America First Credit Union for the second consecutive season and ninth time in the award’s 12-year history.

With all points now assigned, the Rebels took the all-encompassing competition with the Wolf Pack by the final score of 27-21.

The Rebels jumped out to a lead early in the school year after wins in women’s soccer and a split in volleyball to go with a football victory that again included ownership of the famed Fremont Cannon. UNLV earned another three points when its women’s basketball team swept the Wolf Pack on the hardwood en route to another Mountain West crown. Also adding three points this year was women’s swimming & diving followed by women’s golf and women’s tennis in the spring semester. Both baseball and softball split their matchups to divide the points while for the first time, the schools tied in the area of APR scores for the programs to each add 1.5 points to their respective total.

The Wolf Pack compiled its wins in cross country, outdoor track & field, men’s basketball, men’s tennis and men’s golf to go with the four splits.

“Congratulations to our student-athletes, coaches and staff for another win in the series,” UNLV Director of Athletics Erick Harper said. “It was great to take the Cannon again in football and also our women’s teams really came up big against their in-state rivals. We always appreciate America First Credit Union for supporting the competition and are already looking forward to getting started again this fall.”
