LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Vegas Golden Knights Alex Pietrangelo is stepping away from the game.
In an X post, the NHL team shared a statement from Pietrangelo saying that the past few years have taken a toll on him physically.
He says he is stepping away from hockey to recover. Golden Knights general manager Kelly McCrimmon said in a statement that Pietrangelo is dealing with injuries that need intense treatment.
He says there’s no guarantee of success.
Pietrangelo joined the Vegas Golden Knights in 2020, and still has two years left on his contract.
It’s unclear from the statements if Pietrangelo is retiring permanently.
