LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Vegas Golden Knights announced Sunday that Bruce Cassidy has been relieved of his duties and John Tortorella has been named the team’s head coach, General Manager Kelly McCrimmon said.
“We thank Bruce Cassidy for his dedication to our hockey club and community over the past four seasons,” McCrimmon said, noting the team won the Stanley Cup in 2023 under Cassidy. McCrimmon said the club believes “a change is necessary” with the stretch run of the 2025-26 regular season underway.
Tortorella, most recently the head coach of the Philadelphia Flyers (2022-25), has spent 23 seasons as an NHL head coach. He won the Stanley Cup with Tampa Bay in 2004 and has coached 1,620 NHL games, ranking sixth all-time, according to the team.
