LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Venetian Resort Las Vegas will illuminate its exterior tower signs in special colors to mark two observances in March: Read Across America Day on Monday, March 2, and International Women’s Day on Sunday, March 8.

Read Across America Day

On March 2, the tower signs will display purple in observance of Read Across America Day, an annual reading motivation and awareness program created by the National Education Association. The day calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading and is observed on the birthday of Dr. Seuss.

International Women’s Day

On March 8, the signs will turn green, white and purple for International Women’s Day, a global day recognizing the achievements of women and calling for action on women’s equality. The three colors are historically associated with the women’s suffrage movement, symbolizing hope, purity and dignity.

Both lighting displays will run from 12:01 a.m. until sunrise and again from sunset until 11:59 p.m. on their respective dates.
