LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – It’s what one Henderson neighbor describes as a “vicious cycle:” loads of trash, dumped in the open desert near Horizon Ridge.

FOX5 first covered the issue in 2023, when someone dumped a fridge full of rotting food.

The same neighbor FOX5 spoke with two years ago, Melissa Trassati, now tells FOX5 the issue is only getting worse.

“This constant issue, this vicious cycle that does not end, and actually has continued to get worse and worse over the years, something needs to be figured out on a greater level,” she says.

Trassati is turning her attention toward prevention efforts, suggesting more signage, cameras, and community involvement.

The 3,500 acre parcel at the top of Horizon Ridge is BLM-owned, but borders the City of Henderson.

To report illegal dumping, contact the Bureau of Land Management directly by calling (702) 515-5000, or to the City of Henderson by calling 702-267-2208.
