LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A Nevada licensed contractor has been sentenced for charges related to fraud and obtaining money under false pretenses.
The Nevada State Contractors Board said Jon Thomas Banning, owner of JTB Landspacing, was sentenced to four to ten years in prison. He was arrested by the Nevada Attorney General Investigators in coordination with criminal investigators from the Nevada State Contractors Board.
The board said Banning had an outstanding felony arrest warrant issued by the Las Vegas Justice Court that charges him with eight felony counts related to fraud or deceit.
According to a media release, the case stems from an investigation following multiple complaints from homeowners. The board says many were from seniors. It alleges that Banning obtained tens of thousands of dollars through deposits on landscaping and pool projects.
The board says Banning did not complete or start the projects and refused to return any of the money not earned. The victims incurred losses of over $300,000.
