LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Two days of record high temperatures could trigger an early response from Mother Nature.

Insects could begin to reproduce with larvae hatching, that’s according to Dr. Louisa Messenger from UNLV’s School of Public Health.

“This is the perfect climate to trigger a lot of creatures to come out,” she said

The first bugs and insects that could hatch are gnats and aphids, followed by bigger species, like mosquitos.

Even scorpions could make an early appearance.

Drew Peltier, an assistant professor at UNLV’s School of Life Science, tells us trees could bud if these temperatures continue.

“Warming is definitely a trigger to green up. But this early heat could also put more stress on the trees as we head into spring and summer,” he said.

Monday, we hit 80 degrees here in the valley. Those temperatures are not usually seen until mid to late April.
