LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Water is now flowing at the Ainsley at the Collective after residents went nearly two weeks without service.
Many residents fled to hotels during the outage.
Residents say they can now do dishes and shower after 13 days without water. Hannah Beth, a resident at the complex, confirmed water was restored as of October 30th.
Residents hesitant to drink restored water
Despite the restoration, some residents remain cautious about consuming the water. When asked if she would drink a glass of water, Hannah Beth said no.
Beth says she and other residents want the complex to show them the water test results to make sure the water is safe to drink.
Water outage began during maintenance work
Residents tell FOX5 the outage began during maintenance work, which resulted in water flooding parts of the complex.
Along with wanting to see water testing, Hannah Beth wants to be reimbursed right away for the $1,700 she spent on a hotel and other expenses. She said the complex sent out a mass email over the weekend saying reimbursement would come by November 4th.
Beth and other residents also want to be credited for rent during the 13 days without water.
“I have not paid rent,” Beth said. “I personally am not giving them another dime until they resolve this.”
Complex spokesperson has no answers
A spokesperson for the complex did not have answers about when reimbursement might happen, water testing, or rent credits for the period without water. The spokesperson said he would work on getting a statement.
Water District officials told FOX5 that since this was not a Water District-initiated shutdown, it would not have done any testing.
Beth says the business center is gutted, and certain spots downstairs are blocked off for repairs. She says the mail room is back open, and she’s seeing contractors and plumbers working to fix everything.
