LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Con artists could be declining cards online to collect the numbers.

FOX5 Investigates breaks down the new twist online shopping scams.

Numerous people reported to the Better Business Bureau that they tried to buy something online and was told their card declines.

They tried a differed card only to learn that one didn’t go through either. They were charged multiple times.

The BBB says to make sure the browser is a legitimate site before you put in your card and personal info. Fraudsters create lookalike websites, so look closely at the URL. It could be by one letter.

Check to see if the website URL starts with a lock symbol and “https.”
