LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A Las Vegas woman has been sentenced after pleading guilty to stealing firearms from a federally licensed dealer in Overton and selling them in the months that followed, federal prosecutors said.
According to the release, Alexis Breanna Worrell of Las Vegas will spend 30 months in prison, followed by two years of supervised release. She pleaded guilty to one count of theft of firearms from a licensee and one count of possession of stolen firearms.
The sentencing stems from a July 2023 incident in which Worrell, Dennis James Caputo and an unnamed individual stole guns from a closed federally licensed firearm business in Overton. Court documents indicate that Caputo climbed onto the roof of the business, used tools to cut a hole in the roof, silenced the business’s motion sensor alarm and took various firearms from displays inside.
The release states that Caputo placed firearms on a bedsheet he had brought and filled 5-gallon buckets with other guns. Worrell, whom Caputo had directed to wait for his call at a nearby gas station convenience store, admitted to helping load the firearms into the cab of the vehicle and selling the firearms to others in the months that followed the incident.
Department of Justice officials said nine of the stolen firearms have been recovered from people “engaged in criminal activities in the Las Vegas area.” Four have yet to be recovered.
According to DOJ officials, Worrell had previously been convicted of methamphetamine trafficking in Clark County. Caputo has prior federal drug convictions in Oregon and Washington. He was sentenced to six years in prison after pleading guilty to theft and possession of stolen firearms.
