LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A woman is fighting for her life Monday morning after being struck by a car while crossing the street in the northwest valley.

According to LVMPD, the crash occurred on West Lake Mead Boulevard, east of Torrey Pines Drive, around 11:48 p.m. An initial investigation found that the woman was walking outside of a marked crosswalk, and was struck by a Subaru Legacy when she “stepped backward off a median” into eastbound lanes on Lake Mead.

Arriving medical crews transported the woman to UMC Trauma Center, where they are receiving treatment for life-threatening injuries.

Police add that the Subaru driver remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
