LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Clark County Museum opened a new exhibit Friday as part of its Women’s History Month celebration.
The exhibit, titled “Empowered: Women of Clark County,” features stories of women who have shaped Southern Nevada across multiple fields, including education, business and politics.
Who is featured
Among those highlighted is Jean Ford, an activist and lawmaker credited with creating the Clark County Library District. The exhibit also includes stories of women who led Culinary Union strikes to secure better wages for workers.
Leonard Lanier, curator of exhibits at the Clark County Museum, said women’s contributions are central to the region’s history.
“Women are an integral part of history. They can’t be separated out from the story of the past, whether in Clark County or really anywhere on this earth,” Lanier said. “And so when we talk about our past, we need to include everyone, especially women, because it is their story.”
How to visit or learn more
The exhibit runs through May 25. Stories of the women featured in the exhibit are also available on Clark County’s website.
