The arrest report explained when he returned home from work around 3:30 a.m., he found Phillips covered in blood surrounded by multiple knives on the kitchen floor.
The father found his daughter in the bedroom bleeding and unresponsive on the bed.
Phillips fled the apartment before police arrived. They later located her in the parking lot of the apartment complex.
The father had an on-and-off relationship with Phillips, according to the report. Phillips told police she had been living in the apartment for the last year.
Phillips confessed to police she “snapped” and stabbed the toddler. She said she was suicidal, tried to hang herself and consumed sleeping pills. Police said Phillips was mostly incoherent, with glossy rolled back eyes.
Detectives collected the weapons from the crime scene which included various knives and a pair of scissors. They also discovered three sheets of paper with messages written in red marker, “See what happens when you [mess] with people’s lives,” and “Now we both have nothing.”
The Clark County Coroner confirmed Journei died due to multiple stab wounds to her torso.
The Father was sharing custody with the biological mother. Phalan Whitson spoke with FOX5 today as Phillips appeared in court.
