LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Zoox announced it has more than doubled the number of locations for its robotaxi service in Las Vegas, adding the Las Vegas Convention Center and hotels along the Strip.
The Amazon-owned company said Tuesday it will begin limited service to events at the Sphere and T-Mobile Arena, and will add pick-up and drop-off zones to the Las Vegas Convention Center and a majority of resorts on the Strip. The destinations will be available to employees and will open to the public later this spring.
Zoox said it has also been testing at Harry Reid International Airport with its retrofitted testing fleet and will soon begin driving its robotaxi in preparation for future service.

The company said it has driven nearly two million autonomous miles and carried over 350,000 riders in less than a year since launching in Las Vegas.
In Tuesday’s announcement, Zoox also introduced an updated ETA engine and pre-booking estimates. The company said the updates will support reduced wait times, more accurate ETAs and smoother driving.
Starting this summer, riders will be able to book a Zoox from the Uber app, according to a joint announcement from the companies earlier this month. The new “Find my Zoox” feature will allow passengers to know which robotaxi is for them through a distinct sound and messaging.
“This expansion marks a significant step forward for Zoox and is driven by the insights from our early deployments,” said Aicha Evans, CEO. “This is our year of growth. We are actively implementing learnings to confidently and safely scale our robotaxi service across the country and bring our differentiated experience to even more riders.”
The company also announced plans to expand service in San Francisco and begin testing in Austin and Miami.
